Managing Helpers – Milton UMC Summer Lunch Team
Helpers will be present from our church on Mondays to give an orientation of volunteer needs and help out. The helpers have experience in helping out in the Summer Lunch Program in years prior. They will be the ones opening our church doors if needed and answering questions about the program. The helpers will be present at church when preparing the lunches as well.
Preparers – Volunteer group
If a volunteer group chooses to be a level 2 volunteer, the group will be in charge of preparing the meals.
Servers – Volunteer group
This group will be serving at various locations. If you volunteer as a level 1 volunteer, this is all that you will be doing.
Things that need to get done on the day of
Preparing the food
We need volunteers to pick up at Sam’s Club or wait at our church for Sam’s Club drop off.
Preparing the Meals
Volunteers are expected to either prepare all the food or come to Milton United Methodist Church (MUMC) and prepare meals. For those coming to MUMC, expect to be present at 10:00AM to have ample time to prepare, pack and clean up.
Here are some menu items in order of labor intensiveness. Plan to have more volunteers on Monday and Wednesday.
Ham&Cheese Sandwich, PB&J, Nutella, Hot Dogs
There will be fresh fruit (grapes) on Monday and Tuesday and this requires more volunteers to do.
Delivering the Meals
Servers will be expected to pick up the meals from MUMC and bring them to respective places. If transporting meals is an issue, please let Toni know so that we can provide assistance.
Serving the Meals
The meals will be served as a grab & go style (Not Drive-thru). For phase II we are exploring a pick and choose element for the side items
Cleaning and Returning
Please clean the area that was served and return leftover lunches and coolers (if needed) to the church by 12:00PM.
Volunteer Levels(Tiers)
We want to make sure that the volunteers can be committed to the level they feel comfortable with. We ask that you tell Linda of what level of volunteering your organization can do. The volunteer levels are as follows:
Level 1 (L1) – Just serve lunches
Level 2 – Prepare food and serve lunches
Level 3 – Pay for food, Prepare food, and serve lunches
Please let us know in advance so that we can find the numbers of volunteers to do the work that is needed.
